Daniela Skeen Returns to Nova Southeastern University as Instructor, Inspiring the Next Generation of Dental Assistants

West Palm Beach, FL — July 7, 2025 — Practice management consultant, educator, and motivational speaker Daniela Skeen will return to Nova Southeastern University this fall — not as a student, but as an instructor leading the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) course on September 13–14, 2025.

Daniela’s journey embodies resilience and transformation. A proud secondgeneration Latina, her story began when her grandmother immigrated from Ecuador in the 1980s to give her children a better life. Her mother, Nina Amelia Moreira, worked tirelessly from the age of 17 to support the family, setting an enduring example of perseverance and determination.

Initially dreaming of becoming a makeup artist or dancer, Daniela discovered her passion for dentistry after her own transformation through braces. Despite setbacks — including a serious car accident that forced her to pause her education — she pressed forward, starting as a $7.50-an-hour dental assistant and eventually earning her certifications at Nova Southeastern University.

Now, 16 years later, Daniela returns to NSU to empower future dental professionals through hands-on instruction in the EFDA course. "My journey is proof that with resilience, mentorship, and hard work, anything is possible," Daniela shares. "I’m honored to inspire the next generation — especially young Latinas — to chase their dreams, no matter where they start."

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant course, offered through Nova Southeastern University’s College of Dental Medicine, equips dental assistants with advanced clinical skills to elevate their careers. More information about the course can be found here.
